Why Fall is the Best Time for Golf

Tee It Up

As the golf season starts to come to a close, it’s a mad dash to get as many rounds in as possible. During the fall, our courses are in the best shape of the season because of their procurement all summer long. So long to the hot and long days of summer and hello to the brisk fall season.

This puts many who live in the Midwest in one of two positions (or both):

  1. They’re excited to golf the most beautiful and scenic time.
  2. They know that fall means that the golf season is coming to an end soon.

Experience championship golf with greens and fairways rich in color and trees changing their tones to brighten up every turn. The season has not ended, so book now when the temperature is just right, the colors of the leaves offer a serene beauty, and when golf is less expensive.

Here are just a few ideas:

GOLFtoberfest!

Join us for our end of year party celebrating a great season. The KFAN GOLFtoberfest is October 5-7.  For $345 per person you can have two nights of a deluxe lodging, breakfast daily, unlimited golf at The Pines and Preserve, and the big Saturday night heated tent party which includes FREE food, draft beer and live music by the Twin Cities’ 4onthefloor! Amazing band, incredible weekend, and the perfect time for one more buddies golf getaway! Don’t forget to say ‘Hi’ to KFAN’s most loved and hated golf ambassador, Dan ‘the Common Man’ Cole!

10th Annual Fish & Golf Tournament

This tournament is one of The Pine’s most unique and fun competitions of the year. Just a few weeks away on September 22-23, this two-day, three-person tournament is dedicated to two sports most Midwesterners love: fish and golf. The event starts off at noon on that Saturday from Grand View Beach (must provide own boat). Bait, cast, and fish to get the biggest bag consisting of two bass, two northern, and two walleye. Weigh-in is at 6:00 pm. The group with largest total weight wins. There are extra points if a team can complete an entire bag of six fish and side cash pot for Big Fish in each category. Following the tournament, you can enjoy a Cote Family Walleye dinner and tell your big fish stories of the day.

The next morning begins the golf component of the tournament with a 9:00 am shotgun start at The Pines. The format is a 3-person scramble with threes drives per person required in 18 holes. End the event with lunch and awards. To register call 218-963-8755!

21st Annual Ironman

Labeled as the toughest golf tournament in the world, this is for the die-hard Minnesota golfer on October 13-14! Floridians need not apply. This two-day tournament is tough. The tee boxes are chosen from the staff and are not necessarily where you’d expect them to be. The staff place the pins in the most challenging position on the greens. It’s the Greenskeeper’s revenge course.

The tournament starts on Saturday with an 11:00 am shotgun start at The Preserve. On Sunday, shotgun start is at 11:00 am at The Pines. There are dinner and awards to follow both days. Awards are given for both NET & GROSS Divisions and a two-day optional players pool for both NET & Gross divisions. Also, there will be a giant cash gross skins game as well with $60 per team. Another fun tournament, but not for the meek players, thus its name, the Ironman! To register call 218-963-8755.

And Don’t Forget to Rebook Your Golf Vacation!

Did you enjoy this year’s golf vacation so much that you want to return next year? Rebook for next year and get the excitement started!

Your golf group has two weeks to rebook from your departure date. After the two weeks is up, the unit goes back into the rental pool for anyone to grab. Our golf sales team can work with you to get your golf vacation plans set in stone. You can even rebook while you are staying here! Don’t fret though, we send a thank you email after your stay with our rebooking policy, and you can wait until then to get things set up.

There are a few golf packages that we offer, some which include unlimited golf (for those die-hard golfers), but our most popular package is the Grand Golf Package. This package includes deluxe lodging, 18-holes with cart at The Pines or The Preserve (per night stay), and complimentary driving range balls. Discounted replay rates for the same day are also available.

Next year, the resort will have plenty of exciting offerings. The construction of the hotel and recreation center on the main property will be near completion. More units which are currently being sold in our vacation rental ownership plan will be available to rent – specifically the Garden Cottages and Fairway Pines. And we will still have our fantastic dining options available for your convenience.

Grand View Lodge is growing, and we hope that you are just as excited for next year as we are! Rebook your trip now and let our experienced sales staff help you plan that fun getaway that you need.
